KEY PROJECTS 2025

Explore the key projects of 2025 that confirm our long-term involvement in the development, production and supply of modern solutions for railway vehicles.

ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION – TRENITALIA PROJECT
DAKO-CZ continues to supply brake systems for the project of new sleeping cars for Trenitalia. The scope includes a complete brake system, consisting mainly of the newly developed DAKO brake equipment container and KBZ 8 disc brake units designed for the bogies. The container represents the largest frame of this type ever produced by DAKO-CZ and has been designed as a platform solution enabling use in future projects as well. The sleeping cars will operate on the line connecting Milan and Sicily, and the project ranks among the most significant export deliveries in passenger transport.

STADLER – FdC, ARST PROJECTS
DAKO-CZ is involved in the project of new narrow-gauge hydrogen multiple units for the Italian operator Ferrovie della Calabria (FdC), manufactured by Stadler. Between 2025 and 2028, we will supply DAKO brake components to be integrated into trains intended for regional and suburban services on the 950 mm narrow-gauge network.
Our cooperation with Stadler in the field of hydrogen mobility also includes the ARST project, covering the supply of brake components for eight two-car hydrogen units to be operated in Sardinia.

SIEMENS – BANGKOK METRO (ORANGE LINE)
DAKO-CZ has been supplying brake components for the Bangkok metro for many years in cooperation with Siemens. We are proud that the delivery of components for the Orange Line builds on our previous supplies for the Green and Blue Lines.

PRAGOIMEX, EVO1/O – OLOMOUC
At the beginning of 2025, the first EVO1/O tram equipped with DAKO electromechanical brake unit entered service in Olomouc. Electromechanical technology replaces traditional pneumatic and hydraulic systems, offering faster response times, lower weight, easier installation, and eliminating the need for oil-based systems. We refer to this concept as a Green Solution, as it supports more environmentally friendly vehicle operation. The tram consists of 95 % Czech components and is equipped with the Škoda Digital anti-collision system.

ŠKODA GROUP – PRAGUE
In 2025, the project of the new Škoda ForCity Plus 52T tram for Prague reached major milestones. The first tram was unveiled on 27 January at the Škoda production plant in Plzeň and began test runs on 26 April. In autumn, all mandatory tests were successfully completed, and from 3 November 2025, seven new 52T trams entered regular service in Prague’s public transport network.
The trams are equipped with DAKO electromechanical brake system including control and DAKO magnetic track brakes. The project represents the first implementation of DAKO electromechanical brake system in the Czech Republic and confirms its importance for modern, environmentally friendly urban transport.

ECOTRAIN – FRANCE
The ECOTRAIN project – a lightweight autonomous electric unit designed for operation on regional lines – was exhibited on 15–16 November 2025 in front of the Palais de l’Élysée in Paris as part of the event “Grande Exposition du Fabriqué en France”. The vehicle was developed by a consortium led by SOCOFER France, with DAKO-CZ supplying electromechanical brake units for the project. ECOTRAIN supports the development of low-carbon and sustainable rail transport on less frequented lines.

LAADOS – 59 WAGONS FOR POLISH CUSTOMER CLIP
Among the key projects in the freight segment is the development and supply of a brake system for six-axle, three-section Laados wagons manufactured by Tatravagonka, designed for the transport of tractor units and light commercial vehicles. DAKO-CZ has long been involved in the development of the disc brake unit for this wagon type, and the project also included design modifications to the brake units following changes made to the bogie. The project covers deliveries for the Polish customer CLIP and has the potential to continue with a further 30 wagons for the major European transport company Hoedlmayr.

BRAKE SYSTEM FOR RENS FREIGHT WAGONS
DAKO-CZ has secured an order to supply brake systems for 120 Rens-type freight wagons. These are four-axle low-sided wagons equipped with a conventional block brake with automatic load-dependent braking. The project is being implemented for the Turkish customer Gökrail.

SITAV – ITALY
The official presentation of the hybrid hydrogen locomotive HB1-001 FENHYCE was one of the main highlights of the Expo Ferroviaria trade fair in Milan. The locomotive was unveiled as part of a strategic partnership with the Italian company SITAV, one of the pioneers in hybrid locomotive development, and was equipped with the DAKO Hybrid Digital Automatic Coupler (HDAC).
DAKO-CZ will continue to participate in the project as a supplier of the complete brake system, including the brake container, brake cylinder, antiskid system, driver’s cab equipment, and other standard accessories.
